Tasting note
A beautifully balanced, high-altitude white from Mendoza's Uco Valley. Chardonnay brings complexity and elegance, Viognier gives a velvety texture and
tannins, Sauvignon Blanc contributes aromatics and Semillon, from an 80-year-old vineyard, lends great freshness and intensity. A deft use of French oak seasons this exciting, complex blend into a true feast for the senses.
Our thoughts
Achaval Ferrer's long-awaited inaugural white wine does not disappoint. An innovative blend of Chardonnay, Semillon, Viognier and Sauvignon Blanc, it marries the textural, oxidative Burgundian style with the aromatic lift and racy acidity of Sauvignon Blanc. A similar contrast in the winemaking – new and old oak maturation with malolactic fermentation for the Chardonnay and Viognier; stainless steel with malolactic blocked for the Semillon and Sauvignon – makes for further complexity and character.
