2022 Trebianco di S. Lucia, Castello di Rampolla, IGT Toscana, Italy

This is an authentic ‘natural’ wine, made without added sulphur, no fining or filtration, and in the style of an orange wine – via skin contact – before ageing in amphora. It’s also a field blend, made up of mixed plantings and based largely (50%) on Trebbiano, with Chardonnay, Traminer, Sauvignon Blanc and Malvasia. As such, this is a hugely characterful, individual experience, with classic savoury bruised-apple notes that are sure to be popular with fans of this increasingly fashionable style of winemaking.
