Cantina Diomede comprises 200 hectares of organically farmed vineyards in northern Puglia, close to the town of Canosa. Oenologist Dennis Verdecchia works hard here to obtain high-quality, healthy grapes, with most operations carried out manually.
The ‘Lama di Pietra’, made solely from Nero di Troia, is full-bodied with red fruit aromatics, offering perfect balance on the palate. The ‘Canace’ Nero di Troia is a step up. Aged for 12 months in large French oak barrels, this wine balances richness with fresh acidity, velvety tannins, and a spicy finish.
The name "Canace" comes from blending the initial syllables of the towns where the wineries are located - Canosa, 480 metres above sea level in the DOC Castel del Monte area in the hills north of Bari, and Acerenza, on the foothills of Vulture in Basilicata. Soils are calcareous and rocky, and vines are vertical shoot positioned and Guyot trained, with a density of 3,500 per hectare.
