A rich and complex inky, purple-red wine from the Rondo grape, with flavours of ripe stone fruits, spice and warming herbaceous notes. Add glorious, deep, dark chocolate and black olive tapenade balanced with a fresh and soft finish.
Bolney’s story began in 1972 when owners and founders, Janet and Rodney Pratt planted three acres of vines to create what was then only the sixth commercial vineyard in England. Sam Linter, Rodney and Janet’s daughter, took over the reins in the mid -1990s. Under Sam’s leadership, winemakers Cara Lee Dely and Tom Sutton combine their knowledge and expertise to create award-winning wines.
Bolney Wine Estate is located on the edge of the South Downs, about 14 miles from the UK’s south coast, and comprises five unique Sussex vineyard sites. The vines were re-planted over a period of time from 2002 to 2012, being replaced when they reach 35-40 years of age. One vine produces enough grapes for 1-3 bottles of wine.
Perfect with Pizza. Would be a lovely match with slow cooked pork belly, rich beef ragu and roasted tomato and garlic bean stew. Souvlaki with rich garlic sauce.
