2019 Brunello di Montalcino, Pieri Agostina, Tuscany, Italy

Deep purple coloured with brick rim. Powerful and complex nose of cherry jam, spices, hints of coffee and minerals. Full bodied and powerful, the palate has great depth of red and black fruits and a core of mineral acid. The finish shows abundant ripe tannin and great length.

Our thoughts

Despite releasing its first wine a mere 25 years ago, Agostina Pieri has already established itself among the top producers of Brunello. It is based in the warmer, far south of the region, where harvest typically happens a couple of weeks earlier than the north, and where the warm but not extreme 2019 vintage was just about as perfect as a Montalcino grower could hope for. The resultant wine has the signature ripe strawberry jam and croissant tones, with chewy but refined tannins.
