he elegance and complexity of a great Italian wine
The estate
The Mastroberardino estate is a leading example of the great wines of southern Italy and bears witness to a unique winegrowing heritage. For over 200 years, ten generations of passionate winegrowers have succeeded one another, all driven by the desire to reveal the finest expression of the terroirs of Campania and Irpinia in Italy. Today, guided by the artistic spirit of Piero Mastroberardino, the 250-hectare family estate thrives at the heart of three prestigious appellations: Greco di Tufo, Fiano di Avellino and Taurasi.
The wine
Radici Riserva Antonio Taurasi 2008 is a tribute to the late Antonio Mastroberardino, a key figure in the family estate who sadly passed away in 2014.
The vineyard
This wine, produced in the Taurasi DOCG appellation, comes from clay-limestone soil at around 550 metres above sea level. First produced in 1986 as a Taurasi Riserva, Radici is the result of a long process of research and selection based on the different exposures and soil types in the vineyard.
Winemaking and ageing
Skin maceration at controlled temperature. This wine is aged in oak barrels from France and Slavonia for 30 months.
Grape variety
Aglianico (100%)
