The Villa, which lies 200 metres above sea level, is surrounded by five hectares of vineyards planted with Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MuiTypography-root accordion_paragraphSection__v26kt MuiTypography-body1\"\u003eThe Contini Bonacossi family run the Villa di Trefiano estate with the same respect for tradition and attention to detail seen at Capezzana. In 1979, the late Vittorio Contini Bonacossi decided to produce a wine exclusively from this estate, offering a different interpretation of Carmignano. The Carmignano Riserva blends Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Cabernet Sauvignon, aged in 350-litre barrels for around 18 months, to give an opulent yet elegant wine.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"MuiPaper-root MuiAccordion-root accordion_accordion__I9cut Mui-expanded MuiAccordion-rounded MuiPaper-elevation1 MuiPaper-rounded\"\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"MuiCollapse-root MuiCollapse-entered\"\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"MuiCollapse-wrapper\"\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"MuiCollapse-wrapperInner\"\u003e\n\u003cdiv role=\"region\"\u003e\n\u003cdiv class=\"MuiAccordionDetails-root\"\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1\"\u003eThe Villa is surrounded by five hectares of vineyards which are located in the Carmignano DOCG. The Villa di Trefiano is a blend of 80% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. The vineyards are situated at approximately 200 metres above sea level, facing south, south-east and south-west. Soils are schistous clay with limestone. Summer was dry, with cool nights and sunny days that helped preserve the grapes’ fresh fruit character. An atypical and complex vintage, the challenging weather reduced yields, but the good summer produced grapes of exceptionally high quality.\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1\"\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003eFermentation lasted seven days and took place in temperature-controlled stainless-steel tanks. Temperatures did not exceed 28ºC during fermentation. After 13 days of maceration the wine was aged for 18 months in French tonneaux barrique, a mixture of new and up to 2-year old oak. The wine spent a further year in bottle before release.\u003c\/span\u003e\u003c\/p\u003e\n\u003cp class=\"MuiTypography-root MuiTypography-body1\"\u003e\u003cspan\u003e\u003cmeta charset=\"utf-8\"\u003eThis wine is deep ruby red in colour. On the nose, there are refined notes of cherry and raspberry that mingle with herbal notes and spice. Structured yet elegant, the Trefiano is soft yet firm with supple tannins and well-balanced acidity.
